firestorm is very high dmg for its cost. Its very efficient. The trick of course, is to make sure that multiple monsters take the dmg for the full 10 second duration. Most ele's I know haven't worked that bit out yet

Wait, wait, wait..
An ele brought Firestorm and Breath of Fire to the Deep?
That, my friend, is not GW's fault, nor Arenanet's fault, but your group's incompetence to make sure everyone has the correct skills. From playing GW, you should know that Fire storm makes creatures flee, but since you just learned that, I guess it was a good thing that it was hidden from you in the past. This spreading isn't anything new.
The Deep isn't hard at all for nukers.. just bring the standard nuking skills and Revealed Enchantment..
Go with a guild or alliance group next time.

What else would you replace it with for presearing as you only get that plus flare and 2 air skills anyway I don't think it needs to be removed just used right?I would like to see it plus fireball removed from Orion and Cynn as they should have Meteor showers and Meteor if the Hydra have it why not them.

um dident u read my other post i did check every ones skill but he still brought it although he lied and sayed something else , who said i dident know that fs was an aoe?

i hope my guildies read this thread whenever i try and explain why warrior using live viscariously mending and all profs using firestorm is a bad thing they pull out the "Ive been playing since beta so im an expert" bs.

As much as it frustrates me to see these things you cant nerf ALL AoE because remember in FoW nukes are one of the main damage sources

All this talk of aggro control and crap like it makes me want to pull out my hair. Can't you people play the game without reducing it to a series of numbers? *sigh*

I wish they'd undo or tone down the AoE AI change so the spells are useful. Make them strike faster for less damage, something.

yeah, firestorm has no use, especially since they NEVER gave us any way to slow down foes so that they take all or most of the damage.

My main gripe with AoE nuke is that by the time you finish the 3 sec casting time of Deep Freeze, and another 3 sec + for which ever AoE, 80% of the mobs already died to SS, MM, barrage, backfire, empathy...etc etc.

AS many have said before, Firestorm mainly has a use in PvE as a defensive skill. If fired point blank with monsters on your back, it helps break them off and time to heal wounds for a bit as well as create a "safe zone". Also note that sometimes monsters will not run from a area of effect spell if they are too engrossed on their current target or need to get in range to cast spells. It is just a matter of timing.

I find many of the comments in this topic to be misleading. Fire Storm doesn't say in the description "This skill causes enemies in PvE to flee." That's ArenaNet's fault, not the player.

ArenaNet should add a quest which teaches the proper use of DoT AOEs.

LOL I fail to see how is Anets fault...every ele uses firestorm in pre, they will know AoE spells cause the foes to flee well before they hit lvl20 and the high end areas.

Next dying will be Anets fault as well..

Firestorm is a good skill. It is my second best one as a fire mage in attack damage, but you should not use it when luring. I only use it when we are in the heat of the battle.

Azagoth logic is sound...the OP wants the skill removed based on thier opinion of the skill, Azagoth pointed out he/she didn't like SS but he/she still doesn't want it removed..

A skill shouldnt be removed/nerfed based on one persons view of that skill..simple.

For my ele, I use FS as a FINISHER in a large group. Jeez, the AI doesn't just run away when they feel the first one hit.

Thanks for the back-up!

I love using using SS myself, it's just when I fail to notice it's active on me I hate it.

It's a He, not a She by the way.
